The Benefits of Membership

Providers in Partnership has a common brand name of PiP. The use of the brand and logo by the local networks has helped create a clear identity and image for a newly formed Work-Based-Learning provider consortium across York and North Yorkshire.

NETWORKING

The PiP Chair and Executive Director ensure effective communication is maintained with the other Work-Based-Learning networks in the region and together the network representatives meet with Margaret Coleman, Regional Director for LSC Yorkshire and the Humber on a regular basis.

The Executive Director meets with Liz Burdett, Director of Area, LSC North Yorkshire on a regular bi-monthly basis to ensure a constant and effective 2-way flow of communication and consultation between LSC North Yorkshire and PiP.

The local provider network groups hold regular meetings for members (with Connexions and LSC representation). A common agreed agenda ensures all members are party to effective information and consultation.
Local network groups form a core membership of essential Task Groups – newsletter, website, regional and sub-regional bids, provider capacity building.

CAPACITY BUILDING

Although a very new organisation, PiP has already secured substantial funding on behalf of Work-Based-Learning providers across York and North Yorkshire:

LSC Objective 3 ESF Co-financed Project; Vocational Qualifications at Levels 2 and 3 for specific sector companies.
This project commenced 1 June and delivered NVQ levels 2 & 3 in five specific sector areas. It also included the delivery of IAG, courtesy of Guidance Services, to beneficiaries as they approached the end of their programme. All North Yorkshire providers were invited to participate in this project but the five that were actively involved were KADTAL (now BTAL incorporating KADTAL), VT Training, YMCA Training, Harrogate Training Services and York Training Centre.

LSC Provider Capacity Building Fund
PiP members will benefit from a provider capacity building programme exclusively designed to meet the current needs of WBL providers across York and North Yorkshire.
The programme of support will include training sessions, one-to-one provider sharing of good practice, and consultancy support.
Equality and Diversity
PiP has been involved in discussions on behalf of WBL providers to produce a generic Equality and Diversity publication which is being designed for use by WBL Learners.
In addition, the extremely useful Equality and Diversity Toolkit previously financed via LSC North Yorkshire is now being reviewed for updating and PiP is actively involved in associated discussions.

GETTING INVOLVED

It is vital that WBL providers get actively involved in the consortium, how? There are a number of ways for providers to get involved by being a member of the consortium.
